Sandes, an initiative of Atma Nirbhar Bharat under the Digital India Programme, offers an open-source-based, secure, and indigenous instant messaging platform to facilitate G2G and G2C communication, which supports sharing of all types of messages. Sandes is securely hosted on Government infrastructure, ensuring strategic control lies with the Government. The App is available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store for anyone to download.

Sandes is governed by the Privacy and Data Retention policy, published on the Play/App Store. Sandes is based on the security-first principle and offers end-to-end encrypted communication. The platform stores only metadata for statistical analysis; hence, actual messages cannot be reproduced. All undelivered messages are stored in encrypted form for a limited period only. Sandes has also implemented the originator’s traceability in case any abuse is reported.
