Right from the inception of Karnataka State Centre in 1987, NIC has been involved in many critical eGovernance applications. The broad range of services include System Study, Design & Development, Testing, Capacity Building, Rollout and Maintenance, Turnkey projects including campus networking and NICNET connectivity.

It has played a pivotal role in development and implementation of internationally acclaimed projects like Bhoomi (Land Records), Nemmadi (Rural Digital Services) etc. Many projects started at the state level got elevated as National projects and got replicated at other states like VAT application of Commercial Taxes department, Transport Department Computerization project etc. Products like e-Man for management of assets has been widely used across the Nation and Library automation software eGranthalaya has been taken over as a National level product and implemented in many States.

NIC, Karnataka has been closely associated and have been catering to the needs of the State Government at the highest hierarchy as well as Judiciary and other government bodies. The applications that were initially developed as decision support systems for the government department few decades ago are now complete eGovernance projects catering to the IT needs of all the stake holders.

Apart from the long term associations, NIC has been behind numerous short term and medium term associations and even ad-hoc requirements of IT support during various events elections, recruitments, examination results processing and publishing etc.

The presence of NIC in all the Districts centers, right from the inception has made it possible to implement the National and State level projects at the grass root level as well as projects that cater to the local Districts administration requirements. Most of the applications are served through the state of the art data centre with all the modern facilities and having Disaster Recovery set up at remote locations. Data Centre supports almost all the latest technologies with abundant compute and storage resources.

Multiple high speed Network with redundancy connects the State Data Centre and the KSWAN of the State Government of Karnataka. High speed networks are extended to the Secretariat, High Court of Karnataka, Rajbhavan and many other Government Departments like Education, Agriculture, UIDAI, CM’s Residence Office and Institutes under various NIC Projects. NKN Super-PoP in Karnataka has extended connectivity to more than 100+ Institutes in Karnataka and neighboring States. It has established connectivity to all the Districts administration for more than three decades, starting the journey from X25 based VSAT networks to current High Speed networks with redundancy.
